In This Guide
The Crystal Lake Disability Pride Event is an annual celebration of the beauty, diversity, and lived experiences of people with disabilities — held every July at McHenry County College. Organized by Z Advocacy NFP, a local 501(c)(3) non-profit, this free community event brings together live musicians, community vendors, essential resource booths, and hundreds of attendees for a day of pride, education, and connection.
The 2nd Annual event takes place on July 25, 2026, from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM at McHenry County College, Building B (8900 US-14, Crystal Lake, IL 60012).
What Is Disability Pride?
Disability Pride is a movement celebrating disability as a natural part of human diversity — not something to be hidden, pitied, or cured. Rooted in the disability rights movement, Disability Pride events uplift the voices, creativity, and culture of disabled people while advocating for full inclusion in every aspect of community life.
July is nationally recognized as Disability Pride Month, marking the anniversary of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), signed into law on July 26, 1990. The Crystal Lake event aligns with this national celebration while focusing on local resources and community building.
